The Bad Mother Diary LAUGH OUT LOUD PARENTING ROMANTIC COMEDY edition by Suzy K Quinn Humor Entertainment eBooks

Epistolary form (story told through series of documents) is rather rare in romance, but this is more of a chick-lit with a hint of romance.

Juliette had a baby with... a man-child who claims to be an out-of-work actor, but he does have a rich mommy. He was sweet though, and sometimes he almost said "I love you." But the baby is teething, the mother-in-law is a terror and the husband is a douchebag in addition of being a man-child... and Juliette doesn't know how to cook or bake or even put Daisy to sleep...

This book is absolutely hilarious to read, and yes, there's a plot. And it goes on for a few more volumes. Let's just say the BF caused some major drama... when Juliette's best (girl) friend admited of having an affair with the BF... and Juliette obviously had to cancel the wedding. And she's suddenly famous as the run-away bride. So she trained for a marathon as a way to psyche herself... and her old schoolmate, Alex... hotel magnate, wanted to woo her... Now that she's single, but is she going back to her baby-daddy? There's definitely some heart in the characters. While the diary form is a bit... choppy, it's also a great way to do time compression, where you don't have to do things like setting up the scene and such.

The Bad Mother Diary LAUGH OUT LOUD PARENTING ROMANTIC COMEDY edition by Suzy K Quinn Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

OMG OMG OMG!!! I can't tell you how much I ❤️❤️❤️'d this book. I never wanted to put it down. I had to sneak and read it in the bathroom stall at work; it was that good!! The characters were all so colorful and humorous (I loved all of the cussing)!!! The story line was perfect and I'm so glad it turned out the way it did. Although, I did think Juliette should have been more of a bitch to Nick. Thank goodness her girlfriends had her back. If you are looking for a funny love story, this is definitely the book for you!! I can't wait to read more books like this from Ms. Quinn.
This is a cross between a modern day Pygmalian and When Harry Met Sally. The characters are distinct and notable, sometimes uncomfortable existing in the same universe as the main character without her charming naïveté and quirky family. I laughed out loud many times, and give the author major credit for describing the early days of motherhood with humor. I can't vouch for her accuracy because my memory is a blur, but the story rings true in the details.
Aww, this was a fun book, full of interesting characters and glimpses into English life. Juliet is a single mother who was left at the altar by her baby's father. Now she's trying to put her life back together. One day she's agonizing over why her guy doesn't text or call. The next day she's laughing over baby Daisy's latest antic. Give this book a try - you will like it.
At first the book seemed a little slow. You really get into as it unfolds how different and naive is Juliette. The humor is terrific. Different from other Suzy's books. Really enjoyed the story. The insight into this family is really great. I could so relate to some of the dynamics going on in this family. The journal musings of Juliette is a unique way to tell a story. The scene descriptions were done so well you had no problem envisioning them happen as you read them. This book can really brighten up a blah day. Go Suzy lol
Ok first I'll start by saying that I've read books by this auther before and I love her writing.
So, Lets get the negitive out of the way. The format was very different for me in this book; I'm not used to reading diary entries to get the story line. it took me a bit to catch on and really get into it. But that's on me, not the writer. My only other "negative" would be I didn't find it to be that funny. yes, there were some situational things that made me laugh, but to label it a romantic comedy didn't really fit for me. thankfully I overlooked that and read the book anyway because I like the author (I'm not a fan of comedy.)
Ok enough with the negative! Storyline was great! I felt what the h was feeling. it was raw and real and I loved it. having been through something similar in my life, I was really able to relate with h ( though I'm still waiting for my H lol). What she went through and her inner thoughts and turmoil were realistic and made me feel what she was feeling. The author did a great job making me feel like I was going through everything with the h. The book made me run the gamut of emotions; I laughed, I cried, and I got angry at each of the characters at one point or another. It is exactly what a book should do for you. And in the end the HEA was perfect. I definitely recommend this book.
Hilarious. I really enjoyed this book and read it in a day. I laughed out out loud so many times. I could relate to many of Juliette's issues. It probably helps that I am an Australian and spent my teenage and early twenties in London so the British humour is part of my DNA. Also no need to wonder at the different words - it all came naturally.
There were a few errors (missed words, etc) but nothing bad. Not sure whether it had been edited as I received an ARC (my first ever, thank you, thank you).
I loved the characterisations and of course hated Nick and his obnoxious mother, not to mention the poisonous "best friend/bridesmaid" Sadie. Jules' family was totally over the top - cringe-worthy but loveable at the same time.
There weren't any surprises or plot twists; it was a fun easy and relaxing read. Totally recommend it for one of those weekends where escapism is required.
Will start by saying I love this writer and have read many of her previous works. This book is in a date order like you would write in a diary. That was a bit hard for me to stay on the story line. Kind of choppy this way. But the story and main character Juliette were quite true to life for I would say many women. Struggles of keeping a family together when only one is trying. Fighting against depression and weight gain while trying to be a good mom is very relative. Guide at the introduction to the book gives the reader a list of British terms not common in the United States. Having read them up front made the prose more understandable. And for all of us who dream of our White Knight you will not be disappointed in this story.
